Emerging trends in Genetic Engineering & Molecular biology-2022 Concluded

Centre for Molecular Biology, Central University of Jammu organised a Two-Days National Conference dated 28th and 29th September 2022 under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. San jeev Jain. The main theme of the conference was Emerging Trends in Genetic Engineering & Molecular Biology.

Prof B.S Bhau, Dean school of Life sciences graced the occasion as Co-Patron

Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed (Director, Centre for Molecular Biology, Central University of Jammu) was the Convenor of the event. Dr. Shelly Sehgal conducted her responsibilities as Co-Convenor and Organising secretary along with other  faculty members namely, Dr Audesh Bhat, Dr Ashok Yadav, Dr Praveen Mehta and Dr. Anjali Dhar .

No department has an essence without its scholars and student. So, Research scholars, students and office staff of the Centre performed soulfully for the event and made it a great success .

Day 1- (27th September 2022) started with the inaugural session. Sacred Lamp lightening was done by the Hon’ble VC and invited guests followed by Saraswati Vandana  which was recited gracefully by Ms Sumita.  Hon’ble Vice chancellor CUJ, Prof Sanjeev Jain presided over the event and felicitated the invited guests. In his presidential remarks, Prof Jain emphasised more on the quality of research and innovations.  Prof Manoj Dhar, Former VC, University of Jammu was the Chief guest for the ConferenceHe advised the students to focus on the concept of basic sciences before progressing towards the advanced research. Moreover, the Guest of Honour, Prof H.B Singh, former Professor, Institute of Agriculture, BHU, Varanasi , also known as the Man of patents and pioneer in Trichoderma research also enlightened the audience about the importance of traditional Ayurveda and Plant sciences. It was  followed by oral presentations in offline mode. The inaugural event concluded with  a formal vote of thanks by Co-Convenor, Dr Shelly Sehgal. The other members  Organising  Secretaries  and Convenors of different events  present on the occasion were, Dr.Audesh Bhat,  Dr.Ashok Yadav . Dr.Praveen Mehta,  Dr.Anjali Dhar, Ms Stanzin Ladol and Dr. Samantha Vaishnavi.

Day 2- (28th September 2022) began with  introduction of invited speakers by Dr.Ashok Yadav.  Dr. Kancherla  Prasad,  Sr.Scientist,RMBD &IST Division CSIR- IIIM delivered a talk on “Patentability requirements and assessment‘ Jammu. This was followed by another interesting invited talk titled ”Recent trends in stem cell research and regenerative medicine” by Dr.  Jamal Dar, Principal Scientist, Pharmacological division CSIR- IIIM, Both the invited talks were an eye-opening  sessions for young researchers and audience. Display of research work by various participants was done through posters in the campus’ main building.

The Valedictory session was presided over by Prof H.B Singh and Prof Rasal Singh, Dean students welfare CUJ. Best oral and poster awards were presented in the session. Dr.Nitika Kapoor, guest faculty, Department of Zoology CUJ  won best oral presentation award and Ms Pooja Yadav, Research scholar CUJ won  the best poster presentation award. The Conference concluded with  a vote of thanks by Dr. Parveen Kumar Mehta (Organising Secretary). The two-day conference thus provided an insightful analysis of recent advancements in the field of scientific research that would definitely benefit the aspiring scientist and students. The best part of conference was  the expression of ideas and experience by various participants from different areas of J&k,,Delhi and other universities  where they applauded the organizers  for providing them a platform to express their research ideas
