Central University of Jammu celebrated the 2018 National Science Day

Central University of Jammu (CUJ) celebrated the 2018 National Science Day on 28th February at its Temporary Academic Block located at Sainik Colony Jammu. The celebration began with the lighting of the lamp by the invited guests Prof. R. S. Sangwan, Director Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Delhi and Prof. D. K. Pandya, Dean Admin, IIT Jammu along with academic coordinator Prof. Lokesh Verma, Prof. S.K. Khosa, Dean Life Science Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Head Department of Botany Prof. B. S. Bhau, and HoDs of other science departments. This was followed by Saraswati vandna performed by the students and welcome address by Prof. S.K. Khosa. Prof. Sangwan delivered a popular talk on “Science and Technology for Sustainable Future” which also was the theme of this year’s National Science Day. Prof. Pandya delivered a talk on ‘’Basics of Nanotechnology - Relevance to Modern Society”. Prof. Ashok Aima, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CUJ in his presidential remarks appreciated the faculty members of various departments for organizing the National Science Day and the students for their participation in large number. Furthermore, he discussed how the contribution of science has made our life much easier and the importance of science in achieving sustainable future. Prof. N. K. Tripathi presented formal vote of thanks. In the afternoon session, various student competitions such as oral and poster presentations, quiz, and model making were organized in which large number of students from different science departments participated. All the faculty members actively participated in the celebration by organizing the event and by coordinating and judging the various student competitions. The event was concluded with the announcement of winners and prize distribution.
