Need Analysis Meet: Phase –II,

The School of Education, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), Central University of Jammu, has organised the Need Analysis Meet: Phase –II on 09.Oct.2017. The stake holders of this programme were CEO’s, DIET Principals and Head of the Department DIETs of Ten Districts of Jammu Division. The key resource personfor the meet was Prof. Veera Gupta, National University of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi. Theprinciple objective of this programme is to identify the needs of teachers related to the domain of teaching-learning.

The key speaker highlighted the limits imposed on the functioning of the Principles, DIET due to lack of synergy with the system. She stressed the extension of support and assistance by CEOs in functioning of the DIETs in their districts. Dr. Veera Guptaemphasised that we are all in a system and each one of us must aware of his/her accountabilities. The system has certain rights and duties; without these nobody can function properly for attaining objectives. Prof. Lokesh K. Verma, Programme Coordinator, School of Education,Central University of Jammu briefed about the background and details of School of Education, PMMMNMTT.

This mission envisions to provide training programme to the teacher education and creating educational facilities, resources, etc. The main aim of this mission is to create model institutions, enhance teaching-learning process, creating opportunities for teacher educators. S. Ravinder Singh, Director of School Education, iterated the need for relocating the role of teachers to teaching- learning which has been taking a backseat in the present time.S. Charandeep Singh, Joint Director of School Education, pointed out that every teacher should know his/her fundamental duties of teaching profession. During the presidential address, Prof.Ashok Aima, Vice- Chancellor of Central University of Jammu, by quoting Rabindranath Tagore said,“The Aim of Education should liberate an individual”. He further stressed that “the mother temple of Education” is the School, so the quality school education should be focused. It is the high time to prepare young generations right from the school.

The inauguration was followed by district-wise presentations in which district representativesshared the ‘to be educational priorities’ for their districts. Further, in district-wise group discussion details over educational needs of various districts were shared along with setting the priorities in programmes identified. The meet concluded with the presentation of district-wise group reports by the group facilitators Dr. KiranDr. Parmod, Assistant Professor, Dr. J.N. Baliya, Dr. RituBakshi and Dr. Aman, Assistant Professors, Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu.
