Swachcha Bharat Diwas observed in CUJ

Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organised Swachchata Hi Seva on the occasion of Swachcha Bharat Diwas/Gandhi Jayanti. The event was held in the boys’ hostel lawn in Sainik Colony where the chief guest, Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor flagged off the cleaning activities. A floral tribute was paid to the father of nation. While addressing the gathering of students/scholars and faculty members, vice chancellor emphasised the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s teaching and work and insisted that every students must read his autobiography, My experiment with life. Since the occasion is celebrated across the country as Swachcha Bharat Diwas, it is time to reflect on Mahatma Gandhi’s devotion and selfless service to the nation with sense of personal sacrifice, which everyone has to imbibe in their life.

Prof. Lokesh Verma, highlighted the relevance of Gandhian values for youth development and urged student community to embark on social services such as cleaning and sanitation drive during their leisure time. Proctor of the university, Prof. N.K. Tripathi spoke about the role played by students to keep their campus and common space clean and tidy. Dr. J.Jeganaathan, programme coordinator highlighted various activities have been taken under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan campaign in the university and distributed dustbins to all the inmates of the hostels. More than 120 students and scholars participated in the cleaning drive flagged by the vice chancellor in the hostel premises.
