J&K Governor Shri N.N. Vohra inaugurated the International Seminar on Kashmir Philosophy at Central University of Jammu organised by the Centre of Comparative Religions and Civilisations. The seminar was attended by academicians, journalists, authors and research scholars from India and abroad, including Anusuriya Kumar from University of Copenhagen, Mark Dyczkowski from England and Boris Marjanovic from Croatia.

The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ashok Aima gave Welcome Address. In his keynote address, Mark Dyczkowski highlighted Philosophical and literary contribution of Abhinavagupta, an eleventh century philosopher of Kashmir. According to him, Kashmir Saivism through Abhinavagupta and Buddhism has huge influence on Sufi movement in Kashmir and creates ground for interfaith collaborations.

In his inaugural address, J&K Governor N.N. Vohra stressed on the role and duty of higher educational institutions to take Saivite and Sufi philosophy to common people and strive for harmonious living.
In his welcome address, G.M. Khawaja (alias Zaffar), the Director of the centre argued for a synthesis of Rishism, Buddhism, Saivism and Sufism to foster mystical tradition of philosophy at global level.
Research papers on Kashmir Saivism were presented in two technical sessions in which paper presenters deliberated upon therapeutic, literary and practical aspects of Kashmir philosophy and various ills of modern society.

Among those who presented the papers were Boris Marjanovic, Prof. Rajneesh Mishra (JNU), Ms. Anusuriya Kumar, Journalist K.K Lidhoo, Prof. R.L. Bhat, Ram Bahadur Shukla, Satish Vimal and GM Khawaja, the director of the Centre.
