The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Central University of Jammu organized blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Government Medical College Jammu in Temporary Academic Block, Sainik Colony, Jammu.
While delivering the key note address Dr. Vijay Shawney, Professor and Head, Department of Haematology, GMC Jammu, highlighted the significances and the health benefits of donating blood. He said that Jammu region has been suffering from scarcity of blood. For instance, the GMC figures less than the national average of blood storage. He also appreciated the effort of NSS unit to collaborate with GMC for organizing such events and advised to organize such events in the future. These should be organized in rural villages. The Vice Chancellor himself donated the blood followed by other donors.
Earlier, Prof Devanand Dean Students Welfare welcomed the guest and dignitaries and mentioned that the NSS unit has been successfully organizing Blood Donation Camp for the past 2 years.

About 80 volunteers donated the blood. NSS programme coordinator, Dr J. Jeganaathan delivered a vote of thanks and apprised the audience about the various NSS activities related to public health.
