Central University of Jammu starts one week Yoga camp at Main Campus

In order to fully implement the Saksham scheme of Central Govt. of India, The Yoga Centre of Central University of Jammu starts one week Yoga camp in collaboration Sensitization Prevention and Redressal of Sexual harassment (SPARSH) on SAKSHAM at its Main campus Bagala here today.

Before the start of camp a joint program was organised by The Yoga Centre and SPARSH wherein Prof. Ashok Aima, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu was the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the camp and Dr. D.L Chaudhary, Incharge, The Yoga Center was also present.


While inaugurating the event, Prof. Ashok Aima, applauded the efforts of the Yoga Centre and SPARSH for conducting such programs that enhance the overall personality of the students and added that it will develop the mental and physical capacities of the students such as to make them self-reliant. He urged upon the students to put in efforts for self-development for facing the challenges in the real world and said that only through Yoga they will get rid of stress and hypertension.


He said that Saksham Yojana launched by Government of India for upliftment & wellbeing of young generation who are the future of the nation and Primary aim behind the launch of Saksham Yojana is that adolescent and young generations especially boys are to be guided to inculcate a complete sense of responsibility to respect their female counterparts. He asked the students that their real contribution for the nation would be indicate only when they groomed properly, so they should always try to improve themselves.

Earlier, Dr. D.L Chaudhary, Incharge, The Yoga Centre, apprised that the program was conceived and designed such that it enables the students to be self-reliant and know the benefits of yoga in our daily lives. And students will be trained to become self-dependent and self-defensive. He further informed that a 3-months certificate course is going to be launched at the Central University of Jammu where students can take admission as a part time course. And further informed that similar one week camp was organised by CUJ for the students of Temporary Academic Block (TAB) two months ago.


Dr. Ritu Bakshi, Member Secretary SPARSH, briefed the gathering about the mandate of the Govt. of India regarding SPARSH and SAKSHAM. She further informed that the Central University of Jammu is committed to provide safe and secure environment for all the genders at the campus. Dr. J.N. Balia, Member SPARSH also spoke on the occasion.
