Lecture Series on the Topic Diaspora A key Source for Indias foreign policy objectives and cultural

Central University of Jammu organised Lecture Series in collaboration with ministry of external affairs, public diplomacy division on the Topic - Diaspora A key Source for India’s foreign policy objectives and cultural diplomacy. The lecture started with the welcome address by the Prof Deepshikha Kotwal HOD Mass Communication and New Media. The programme started with the welcoming of guests who included Senior Journalist Rahul jalai, Mr Ashok Aima Vice Chancellor Central University of Jammu and Media persons. The speaker for the programme was Amb(Retd) Manju Seth. She talked about the Diaspora and Foreign Policy and how it acts as a tool to interact with other countries thus leading to friendly ties, safeguard security in any form like food , energy etc to create better relations. She emphasised the relation of India with top countries like USA, Russia, China and Neighbouring Countries. In her address she highlighted on that the objective of foreign policy is to get placement in UN Security Council.


She also talked about cultural diplomacy, she said that the soft power diplomacy is being used to create a state in each other’s county to create a people to people connection in order to make government realise what people want. She said that Indian cultural values are celebrated all across the world .she said that cultural diplomacy has led to the origin of certain kind of branding. After the lecture of Miss Manju Seth there was a question answer round moderated by Mr Rahul Jalali and the lecture was concluded by the small lecture of Prof Ashok Aima. He talked about that Indian Government is taking initiatives to strengthen the foreign policies and he also emphasised on the cultural Diaspora with in the stares and also within the countries. Others who were present in the lecture series were all heads, deans, faculty and students of central university of Jammu. Prof Lokesh Verma Academic Coordinator presented formal vote of thanks.
