Central University of Jammu signed MOU with CBR Network

The Central University of Jammu entered into a MOU with Community Based Rehabilitation Network (CBR), Bangalore to offer and run online courses for training and capacity building in the field of education and care of the person with diverse needs. This is an landmark inititative on the part of Central University of Jammu for facilitating the inclusive growth of the region. The MoU signed by Dr. Indumathi Rao, Director, CBR Network and the Registrar, Central University of Jammu in the presence of Prof. Ashok Aima, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu and the Deans and Heads from the various Departments of the University. This is a long pending need of the region i.e. the State of Jammu and Kashmir since there is neither the training facilities nor the capacity building programmes in the area of disability. The MoU envisions nine types of certificate courses to be provided online using E-learning and M-learning platforms. These certificate courses are envisioned as add-on courses at under graduate (UG) level in educational institutions, stand alone courses for the people who are interested in the area of disability studies, and also as the capacity building programmes for the practioners.

  

The provision of online programme through study centers can cover even the remotest area of the State. These certificates courses can be included in UG programmes. The Central University of Jammu may commence with atleast two certificate programmes in the ensuing academic year 2016-17.

The Department of Sociology and Social Work was instrumental in preparing a policy for the persons with disabilities which formally will be presented to the Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. It will be a vital step for the implementation and enforcement of‘Divyang’, in the State of Jammu and Kashmir which is a Central Government policy for the people with differential abilities.
