Eminent lecture on Creating World Class University

Central University of Jammu (CUJ) , organized the eminent lecture on “Creating World Class University: The Characteristics & Challenges”, here today. The Eminent Academician Prof (Dr.) Jalees A.K.Tareen (Padma Shri), Former Vice Chancellor Pondicherry central university, Kashmir University and BSA University ,Chennai. He is a member University Grants Commission. Who was the Key Speaker of the event. Hon’ble Minister for Education (J&K) Shri Naeem Akhtar was the guest of honour.

While addressing the gathering Hon’ble Minister, Naeem Akhter suggested that University should have its unique identity and be a center of Excellence in the field of Higher Education. He appreciated the efforts of the Vice Chancellor for introducing new Vocational courses at CUJ.

On the occasion, Prof. Tareen, shared his views on the critical role of higher education in the development process has gained greater emphasis with the emergence of the notion of “knowledge-based economy”. As the world is becoming more and more interconnected and global markets for skills and innovations emerge, it has become crucial for India to expand equal opportunities to access higher education.He gave detailed report about the bottle necks that stops Indian universities to figure in the top class universities of the world.
“I believe that there are certain things that lag us to become world Class Universities. India, however, managed to figure in the top universities of the BRIC countries,” Tareen said and added proper vision is needed to standardize the education in the country.He appreciated the vice chancellor Central University Jammu for making efforts in introducing multiple courses. “This is visionary step taken by the vice chancellor CUJ, as it will not only transform this university into a great learning hub, but will make student of this university different from others,” he said.
Earlier, Prof. Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordinator(CUJ) formally welcomed the distinguish guest, Principle of colleges, media person faculty members and gathering.

Prof. Ashok Aima, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu also addressed the gathering and motivated all to discover their own genius in them. He said that to encourage research in the CUJ he has introduced rewards for the best research paper.

“To encourage well researched papers, I have announced reward of Rs 25000 for international journal and Rs 10000 for best national paper,” VC said and added that besides all this the staff and students of this university are at liberty to work on research based papers. Dr. Neelika Arora presented a formal vote of thanks.
