Department of Botany

Action Plan

The department's aim is to educate young students about the diversity of the plant kingdom and its importance for the sustenance of the environment and humankind. This education will provide them with tools to understand the world of plants by identifying and studying them in detail. This will help focus their theoretical knowledge of classical botany into contemporary disciplines such as biotechnology and agronomics. Equipped with this knowledge, students can be confident participants in research and writing on botanical issues on the national and international stage. Students are seen as our future thinkers and doers who will extend the education given to them further from laboratory into the field and influence others in important areas such as food security for the survival of local and national populations.
