Zoology is the classic science which has led to the genesis of other allied branches of life sciences. The dictum of the department for its students is “capacity building” in Zoology in particular and Science and technology in general. The department aims at methodological and research oriented teaching to not only educe the analytical ability of the students but also helping in skill development and aptitude to carry interdisciplinary research and independent projects.
The vision and mission of the department of Zoology is to pursue courses, studies and research on the various aspects of animal diversity which involves learning of behaviour, structure, evolution, limnology, fish and fisheries, entomology, cytology, cytogenetics, neurobiology, wildlife, ecology, embryology, physiology, classification, distribution of animals and there interaction with their environment. The department is presently in blossoming stage and aims to uptake increased innovative research endeavors, and pace up the development and participation of department in research projects.
