Seven Days Workshop on Professional Development Workshop on Design, Develop & Deliver MOOCs is being organized by School of Education, Central University of Jammu under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching is being organized. The inaugural session of the workshop was graced by honorable
Vice Chancellor Prof. Ashok Aima, Central University of Jammu and Prof. K. Srinivas, HOD ICT, NIPEA, New Delhi, who is the key note speaker of all the four technical sessions on first day. In his inaugural address, Prof. Ashok Aima, VC, Central University of Jammu, stressed upon the collaborative and cooperative strategies to be inculcated by in service and pre service teachers so that a conducive learning environment has been created in the classroom. He also
called upon the participants to integrate the learning experiences of the workshop in their day to day teaching learning interactions. He also congratulated the organizer of the workshop for taking this initiative for developing technology mediated environment in the classroom. While welcoming the guests and delicate Dr. J.N. Baliya, center coordinator, HOD, Department of Educational Studies spoke in detail about the objectives, strategies and expected outcomes of
the workshop and also appealed the participants to put in their sustained efforts in various group activities for designing, developing and delivering mechanism desirable for MOOCs. On the other hand, the key note speaker made the participants of the workshop aware about the MOOC ecosystem and video content development for making the online courses more qualitative in nature along with quantitative. In his highly interactive mode, he took up four
sessions namely: Digital initiatives of GOI in Higher Education, Ecosystem & Four Quadrant Pedagogical Approach and Video Content Development. The School of Education (SOE) forms the main backbone of the integrated development of teachers. The School of Education under PMMMNMTT intends to strengthen the holistic vision of teacher education by building a community of excellent teacher educators rooted in tradition and equipped for the future. The Central University of Jammu has been granted Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) for organizing various academic activities by School of Education. The SOE endeavors to provide programmes of excellence in the pre-service and in-service education of prospective and practicing teachers through teaching and learning, research, consultancy, publication and community services. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are gaining attraction all over the world to provide unlimited participation and open access to quality education via web. The MOOCs is considered on the one hand as a panacea for education and on the other as a defilement of the sanctity of the higher education tradition. The School of Education, Central University of Jammu has taken a long-term initiative for organizing various capacity building programmes at school education and higher education under flagship programme of GOI Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT). The faculty members of the Department of Educational Studies who attended the programme including Dr. Ritu Bakshi, Dr. Kiran, Dr. Aman and Dr. Asit.
